Message wall in the Child-Care Center
A tool for community building and language learning for minor rrefugees
This ‘message wall’ aims to ease the serious verbal communication problems experienced by the young inhabitants of the Károlyi István Care Center in Fót. The multi‑task game, which took the form of 200 cubes with is meant to help in learning the Hungarian language and support the socialisation of the youngsters. Each cube has 4 sides containing letters of the Hungarian alphabet, one side containing pictograms based on drawings by the unaccompanied refugee minors (the future users) themselves, and one side that works as a blackboard. The final effect is a comprehensible visual alphabet, which is both simple and aesthetically pleasing.
